This week's Etsy artist: Ekioart

Eclectic is the definition of Ekioart; and vice versa.

Ekioart is the virtual alter-ego of Little Rock artist Brandy Davis, and it’s also the name of her Etsy shop. There you’ll find paintings, photography, jewelry, felting, and handcrafted cards, all the products of Brandy’s fertile mind and deft hands.

Brandy got her art start at a tender age. She says, “Years ago a man approached my mother and asked her if he could buy my painting. I was 4 and it was nothing more than crayon and watercolor on construction paper. Since then she always encouraged me when it came to art. She says she always knew I was going to be an artist.”

Brandy and I have one urge in common: We want to try everything.

“These days, Brandy says, “I play with whatever creative supplies I can get ahold of. I consider myself a mixed-media artist, even if hardly any of my pieces contain more than two mediums. I’ve been told that jumping from style to style or craft to craft means I haven’t mastered anything and am, in other words, ‘a Jack of all trades,’ though I see it differently. I think that learning other crafts, skills and styles has helped me when it comes to art.”

Brandy is a stay-at-home mom of two boys. (Her household also includes two dogs and two cats.) She’s active in AREtsy—the Arkansas Etsy street team—and she’s available on EtsyLove. She says she’s inspired by nature and often crafts outdoors.

Her haiku about her approach to art:

Tide goes out
Moon
Wind in my sails.

Stop by Brandy’s blog to catch up on her art adventures and see photos of her works in progress (and her precious family).
